Does Shavlik supports an in-place-upgrade option for WIN10 enterprise, using our WIN10 ISO.  We'd like to avoid the 'wipe and load' scenario, if at all possible, when upgrading from 1607 to 1703.  I don't think Shavlik supports 'Task sequence' type options that SCCM does.

Also I do not see KB4022715 to push for patches.  It comes up hot on our ACAS scanner but Shavlik showes nothing for that patch.

Thank you

Has something changed today with the signing of the instllation files pushed from Ivanti Patch server?

When deploying from 2 different patch server the status of deployment stays at scheduled and we are seeing the following errors in STDeploy.log

Adding additional certs to trusted certificates seems to have resolved the issue. Was this a planned change?

Deploying software using custom xml - msi install

Hello.  I used the custom patch editor to add a jabbersetup.msi file that I want to distribute and install on our workstations.   I put /quiet in as the install file command line switches.   I scan for the software and then attempt to deploy to the missing workstations.  I see the software pushed to the workstation but it stays in the Executing status.     I see in the log on the workstation that it attempted to run jabbersetup.msi /quiet but nothing happens.  Do I need to deploy this a different way?

I've downloaded the iso file via the media creation tool. I've named it correctly, Shavlik starts to copy the iso to the client and then executes it (The filesize of the iso on the client is correct), but then i get the error 9999

I've tried to install the update with the iso directly on another client and it worked. so the iso file should be ok.

Deployment tracker stuck at "Complete and reboot is scheduled"?

I have installed a new Shavlik Protect server, 9.2.0.4988, when installing patches I can see each patch reporting start and complete times but when the machine reboots the status stays at 'Complete and reboot is scheduled".

The servers is rebooted successfully but never checks back in? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks

hi,

the status column in the patch deployment shows scheduled instead of finished, even though the patches were successfully applied and the server rebooted.

Has anyone received this error when trying to deploy the Windows 10 1607 (Anniversary) update?  Shavlik creates the deployment package but then fails.  Ideas?

I am trying to install the agent on a workgroup computer from a domain computer and keep getting, "Could not read the remote registry: Error 5: Access is denied."  I am using the correct credentials on the machine, <computer><user> but it will not connect.  What am I missing?  The user name is an administrator on the workgroup machine and I verified the Administrators group has Full Control permissions to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSecurePipeServerswinreg.  The workgroup machine is Windows 7 Professional.

Thanks,

"Failed Signature Check" often..

I'm seeing many patches, primarliy Microsoft that keep failing on the download. They seem to fail with an error of "fialed signature check." If I Google the missing files, download them myself, then put them in the patches folder, then attemp to download missing patches again, the file is no longer downloaded as it sees the file I put there and gives it the virtual thumbs up so to speak.

So what's going on here in the console? Why does it keep getting a failed signature check on these files? It seems if I keep trying, eventually they may download but it's hit or miss.

Hi,

I've been trying to write a custom report in the SQL Server back-end (starting from your Patch Status Detail example).  I've added a few new fields from reference tables but I am having a lot of trouble getting Reporting.Cve to join properly with Reporting.PatchAppliesTo.  It seems to be producing some quasi-Cartesian product and pulling in CVE's that do not have anything to do with Windows O/S products.  Do you already have a variation of the Patch Status Detail Report that includes the CVE?

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Hello,

I’m trying to move my Ivanti console from one server (W2K8R2 STD) to another server (W2K16STD) but I always get the same error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Steps I did :

  • Attached/detached my DB from SQL2005 to SQL2016 - SP1 – CU5 (13.0.4451.0)
  • Changed the DB location with “Database setup tool” to this new SQL server

on the old server : (UserID with Admin rights on the server)

  • Upgrade my Shavlik console from 9.1.xxx to IvantiPatchForServers_9.3.4510
  • Backup Core settings
  • Backup User settings

on the new server : (The same userid)

  • Installed IvantiPatchForServers_9.3.4510
  • The installation also installed SQL Express
  • Created a local DB for the new installation of Ivanti Console
  • Copied the Backup files from the old server to the new server
  • Tried to Restore the Core settings but it always fails with the same error

Agent deployment

I have read the best practice guide as well as the admin guide  but  I am wanting to know what is the best method  that works for an environment  that consists of 50 + locations many of which have  easily taxed  connections (hence why agents). I have the majority of the agents installed via console pushes but shill have  another 20%.  What method works best other than console push to install the agent remotely and  assign the correct policy (one for desktops and one for laptops). I would like any desktop or laptop that is part of the network to automatically install the agent  and assign the correct policy if it does not already have  the agent. Would a GPO  be able to do this and install the correct agent?  I have also read one could  create a patch scan that deploys the agent if the scan detects it is not installed but could not find details on how to create this custom scan/ patch to complete the task . Any suggestions  are welcome.

When machine groups are created using OU, how can I get the scan to use the machines FQDN rather than just hostname?

We recently started scanning a subdomain of our forest by using OU's.

When scanning the response is Error Code 201 - Network connection error.

I suspect it's only using the hostname rather than the FQDN.

The names are being resolved using the local subdomain's DNS suffix rather than the remote subdomain's DNS suffix.

For example:

Local domain is:

local.domain

Remote domain name is:

remote.domain

When scanning using the server in the local.domain.local domain host names are always resolved to host.local.domain

I'd like them to be resolved using the FQDN of the OU the hostnames are being pulled from - hostname.remote.domain

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Eric

Credentials can no longer be decrypted

Hi,

Today I have been working on deploying MS patches to my Servers/desktops.  When I perform a scan I get the following error message;

At least one of your credentials can no longer be decrypted.  Please edit or delete every credential with a 'User Name' of 'None' in the credential Manager.

I have checked my Credentials Manager and don't have any users with the user name of none?

I hear there might be a script which could help?
