Start patching server B only after server A has finished?

$

Is there a way to do this with a Custom Action, or some other method rather than just separating their start times?

I am pretty sure I could do a pre-deploy script for server B that checks to see if server A is up, but that's not going to work any time a patching cycle has multiple reboots.  Ideally I'd like to have a post-patch action on server A that kicks off B to start patching, or to even scan and patch.

If not a custom action is there any other way to do it, either agent or non-agent?

Currently on Protect 9.2.5046.

Thanks.

Shavlik Protect Agent Restarting Remote Sessions

Is there a way to customize the Shavlik Agent so that it does not force a restart when certain applications are running? I have several users who connect remotely to PCs and have jobs running overnight. When they come in hours after our agents patch, they discover that their PCs have rebooted and their jobs lost. I have spoken with support prior who state that a Shavlik will restart when a user session is not active.

If there is a ability to integrate some scripting alongside these agents, that would be ideal.

I am using Shavlik Protect Standard 9.2.0 Build 5119

I am trying to install the agent on a workgroup computer from a domain computer and keep getting, "Could not read the remote registry: Error 5: Access is denied."  I am using the correct credentials on the machine, <computer><user> but it will not connect.  What am I missing?  The user name is an administrator on the workgroup machine and I verified the Administrators group has Full Control permissions to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSecurePipeServerswinreg.  The workgroup machine is Windows 7 Professional.

Hello,

Has anyone been having issues with Server 2012 R2 not rebooting after patching completes? We have our servers normally reboot with a 1 minute countdown after they have completed.

Thanks!

Best Practices for Shavlik Protect and MS Domain Controllers

We are attempting to have Shavlik Protect do a scan on a Windows Domain Controller.  Currently the scan fails with Error 452: Unable to Connect to the Remote Machine and we have looked at Error 452: Unable to Connect to the Remote Machine for help.  Because the server is a DC it treats accounts differently we are wondering if there is any other information that Shavik might have when trying to scan such a server?

Regards,

Michael

Script or Scan to "Get pending reboot status".

Newbie here.... Sometimes when deploying I will notice the job is Schedule with 0 of say 30 patches install.  Finally when logging on to the remote server, I will see that the server is requiring a reboot because of another application install or other.  Is there a way to develop a scan or run an It script that you can run to get the pending reboot status of a machine?

Thanks

Hello

I am unable to scan 2 servers , i always get error 201. I tried troubleshoot with all i got on the web without succes.

The ports are open, test existence/credential are ok, the firewall is ok, tried with different credentials and the issue is persistent. I can acces c$ on both machines.

I also tried to add those 2 servers on another shavlik machine and the issue is exactly the same.

All the Scanning  Prerequisites looks ok to me

Keeping settings consistent when using User Role Assignment

I have configured User role Assignment in our environment because I don't want a single user account to be used by all users of the system (10 - 15 users). However I didn’t realise when I configured settings/ options in my profile that they are not set globally in the environment and inconsistencies are cropping up and causing at a per user level.

Is there any way to configure a default profile for all users? Meaning we have a consistent setup for each user that includes all the settings i have configured e.g Credential Manager, Internet Proxy settings e.t.c.

Custom Report including CVE

Hi,

I've been trying to write a custom report in the SQL Server back-end (starting from your Patch Status Detail example).  I've added a few new fields from reference tables but I am having a lot of trouble getting Reporting.Cve to join properly with Reporting.PatchAppliesTo.  It seems to be producing some quasi-Cartesian product and pulling in CVE's that do not have anything to do with Windows O/S products.  Do you already have a variation of the Patch Status Detail Report that includes the CVE?

Thanks in advance ...

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Hello,

I’m trying to move my Ivanti console from one server (W2K8R2 STD) to another server (W2K16STD) but I always get the same error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Steps I did :

  • Attached/detached my DB from SQL2005 to SQL2016 - SP1 – CU5 (13.0.4451.0)
  • Changed the DB location with “Database setup tool” to this new SQL server

on the old server : (UserID with Admin rights on the server)

  • Upgrade my Shavlik console from 9.1.xxx to IvantiPatchForServers_9.3.4510
  • Backup Core settings
  • Backup User settings

on the new server : (The same userid)

  • Installed IvantiPatchForServers_9.3.4510
  • The installation also installed SQL Express
  • Created a local DB for the new installation of Ivanti Console
  • Copied the Backup files from the old server to the new server
  • Tried to Restore the Core settings but it always fails with the same error

No rescan if all patches return zero

For some time Protect has not been rescanning machines if all deployed patches (to that machine) have return code zero.  Is this what's supposed to happen now?

Can I script setting up PatchScans in Shavlik Protect Standard?

I have a list of several hundred machines that I want to setup Patch Scans on them, assume for the moment that these machines cannot be grouped together and they will be done at different times, different days of the month, some microsoft security only, some scan only, some scan and deploy but no reboot while others scan deploy and reboot, etc.

So can some type of script be created that would pull the machine names, scan details, etc from say a CSV and setup the reoccurring scans for me?

I looked through the help documents but failed to find something like this, not saying its not there, saying I failed to find it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Virtual Machines vmotioned to different ESXi Host -impacts patching

$

I have been creating seperate machine groups, Physical groups and Virtual Machine groups.

for example:

01 Monday Physical Machine Group

01 Monday Virtual Machine Group

When running a patch scan only (no deployment template selected) I get failures each day from the Virtual Machine group (random machines)

Upon investigation, it seems that VCENTER vmotions VM's between hosts and thus impacts on the VM Machine Groups I have created.

Ar present there is no dynamic link between the machine groups and hosts within VCenter.  So the machine, when added to machine group from an ESXi host, is a static entry.

This means I have to recreate the machine group with the machines that have changed hosts, before I can patch each day.

I have submited a request to have this "dynamic" update included in a future version of Shavlik Protect.

Does anyone else have this issue, and how are you getting round it, or advice on how to minimise the admin needed to machine groups prior to patching each morning at 5:00am

Thanks in advance

File Validation Error - Adobe Flash Security updates

$

I have an Adobe Flash security update patch, specifically:

Adobe Flash 11
Bulletin ID: APSB17-42

KB: QAF2800126

I have a machine that is identified has missing it based on a default security patch scan. When attempting to deploy, the patch files are verified as having been downloaded (via patching window), are copied to machine (verified), and the installation directory is properly populated with the batch file to get things going. The batch file never renames itself to .HIS though, and instead the entire directory is cleaned up. The resulting error message in the console is "File Validation Failed". Examining the logs client side, STDeployerCore.log reports "WinTrustVerifier.cpp:270 Certificate verification failed with error: -2146762748.".

I've restarted all prerequisite services on this server, have done some root cert cleanup, and have attempted to redeploy and am receiving the same error message still.

Just looking for thoughts on what else might be causing this.

Thanks,

When will the most recent critical OOB micosoft patches ( January 4th , 2018 ) be available in the product

Patch not available for language selected.....Windows 10 enterprise

I have a new laptop with a fresh install of Windows 10 enterprise and Office 2013 w/sp1.  When I attempt to patch it, the patches fail with the following;

patch language.JPG

If I filter out this patch and rescan, the patches fail again with the same error....

patch language2.JPG

So what gives here?
